What is an Anti-Oppressive Rate Structure?

I offer an Anti-Oppressive Rate Structure to support individuals who are seeking consistent weekly or biweekly therapy. This approach is rooted in the belief that mental health care should be accessible, equitable, and sustainable—for both clients and therapists.

I was introduced to this model through the work of Kenya Crawford, a licensed therapist in New York. This structure invites clients to choose a fee within a set range that feels fair and manageable for them, while also allowing me to maintain a sustainable practice aligned with my values of anti-racism, inclusion, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed care.

The Anti-Oppressive Rate Structure takes into account the ways intersecting identities, access to resources, and systemic inequities can impact financial capacity. To ensure long-term sustainability, spaces at each rate are limited.

This model is also grounded in collective care. While confidentiality is always maintained, clients can feel assured that their chosen rate helps create access for other QTBIPOC clients who may need lower-cost options. In this way, the structure supports both individual healing and community care.

*This rate structure is grounded in mutual trust, transparency, and shared responsibility.

HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR RATES?

Rates are based on an anti-oppressive rate structure. Please answer the following questions to determine your rate structure. (Adapted from the Anti-Oppression resource & training alliance)
